My journey into adult ballet

{Above photo taken from Yolanda Dance Studio Facebook Page} Yesterday, I enrolled myself in adult ballet class. I was nervous yet excited because I had not been doing proper barre exercise, guided by professional coach/teacher, for 13 years. So yesterday, I entered my first proper ballet class for adults at Yolanda Dance Studio. There were five of us and I was the new girl. The class started with basic barre exercise – first position, second position, third position, fourth position, and fifth position. We did plie and battement fondu and other movements, in which the terms I have forgotten. Then there was classic ballet floor exercise, which I enjoyed. The one-hour class was not bad afterall because considering I just started,  I was able to catch up with the rest. Even my teacher said I had a “very good turnout”.  That made me happy and I brought home my first ballet flats

Hello, how do you do?

I had spent the last two weeks reading blogs in the office when I should be working. I noticed that I failed miserably at blogging often. Perhaps, I should blog something easy. Something easy that does not require hard thinking. So I had been reading blogs in the past couple of days and I stumbled upon one of the many getting-to-know-me questions. So, I thought…this is easy.  To whoever is reading this, let me tell you a little bit about myself. 1. Do you have a middle name? My middle name, or rather, my second name is Geraldine. 2. What was your favorite subject in school? Advertising. 3. What is your favorite drink? I don’t have a specific favourite when it comes to thirst quencher. I enjoy drinking tea and coffee 🍵☕️ 4. What is your favorite song at the moment? I listen to jazz and folk music. One of my favourite songs is Winter Trees by The Staves ❄️🌲 5. What is your favourite food? Fetuccine carbonara. But I also love Japanese food 🍱 6. Do you participate in any …

Movies that make you want to see the world

This year, I may or may not travel. But who knows, because based on last year’s adventures I learnt that I was capable of making an impromptu decision. Just like when I decided to purchase return tickets for my then 7-year-old nieces, five days prior to flying to Jakarta … just because I wanted companions and most of all, I wanted to expose them to a backpacking adventure. That was in May 2015 and boy, we had a blast. Then in June, I contemplated joining my mom on a tour group to Beijing but I shrugged off hesitation and four months later, I found myself scaling up the steep stairs of China’s great wall. And three weeks after our Beijing trip, I packed my suitcase and took my mom on a suprise trip to London. You see, most of us have a strong desire to see the world and often, we hesitate. To travel (far or near) is to just do it because if you don’t, you will just be sitting and dreaming about travelling. But I also …

Something creepy in Aarhus

This week photo challenge: Creepy,  takes me back to Aarhus. When I was travelling in Aarhus, I made it a point to visit the city’s art museum and Denmark’s oldest public art museum – ARos Aarhus Kunstmuseum. This 10-storey building is about 15-minute (or more) walk from the train station/city centre. The art museum offers visitors a variety of exhibitions and each floor brings you to different sections of arts, some of which are very challenging and mindblowing. In other words, CREEPY and STRANGE. And quoting the website, “ARos is a house of art where our guests can be pleased, enlightened and challenged. The architecture is of international class. The same is the art. And both offer experiences of high carat: from light to thrill, from attitude to entertainment, from joy to challenge.” Here are some of the pictures I took I am not an art expert but I enjoy viewing eccentric artwork such as Kvium’s masterpieces. According to Wikipedia, Kvium started creating grotesque realistic works depicting the darker side of life in early 1980s. Weekly photo challenge: Vivid

Vivid; adjective strikingly bright or intense, as color, light, etc. full of life; lively It is fun to dress up when exploring new places. And the strong and rich Balinese culture makes me want to do just that. This island with over 4 million population (according to 2014 census on Wikipedia) is definitely a place where one should return after their first visit. P/S oh! and the little girl in my featured image, she’s my niece
